Last week I wrapped up my assessments for the 3rd quarter. Here is what I noticed. My babies conceptually understand addition and subtraction, but now we need to work on automaticity!
Research tells us that students must be fluent with adding and subtracting in order to free up their mental energy for higher level thinking… so this got me thinking.
I will continue to focus on the concepts of adding and subtracting, but in order to meet the needs of my little mathematicians AND meet this CCSS:
I need to do more!
