At the beginning of the year, we spend time exploring shapes. We explore shapes as part of our math stations.
So I found a few ideas out there on the web!
How cute is this shape pizza?

This came from Suzie’s Home Educational Ideas, but I could not find the exact blog post. Oh… broken links!
For the book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, this would be a fun project. Students draw a picture with a white crayon then add watercolors to reveal the picture. If only Alexander had watercolors in the book, his invisible castle would have been seen. More book-related ideas can be found in THIS unit.
This is a great time to start to introduce some games that the students will be playing all year. This math fluency has an apple theme, but we have more themes we can swap out, to the learning going all year long.
Just Roll with It is a great activity to learn as well! Loads of fun and it is packed with math and literacy centers.
Have a great week! Click on this image to download my plans.
