Poetry for kindergarten… it’s like FREE books but better! I always struggled at the beginning of the year with finding books that my kiddos could read independently at the beginning of the year. Then I saw a picture someone had sent where she had created poetry books from my Nursery Rhyme poems. I thought… PERFECT!
This is how the poems look in the pocket chart. I still want to keep the pocket chart version… but why not add a lap book to use for other shared reading lessons or to place in the classroom library!
So I printed two copies of the poems. One set of the poems was used for the pocket chart.
Oh the ocean of lamination makes me happy! Why is that?
The other set of poems were turned into lap books!
Songs and Videos!
As you probably know, I have written poems and they have been recorded by Miss Jenny!
So why not make a songbook out of these. This would make a fantastic independent center too. You could create a QR code for the recorded music and students could read and sing along. You can find a FREE QR creator by clicking HERE.
Just add the printed poems and you are good to go!
Music and Videos
Miss Jenny and I have created Music and Videos for each of the poetry sets. If you have already purchased the Music for the first poetry Set, we are in the process of adding the videos to the units.
To make it easier for you to play them in your classroom, you could either download the videos or you have the option to stream them through Vimeo. I added a Jukebox to help you. You just click on the poem and you are good to go!
This unit has been updated. If you had previously purchased this unit, you will get the videos at no extra charge (just redownload them.
You can grab a FREE video Here!
