Those poor recess teachers! Although my classroom behaviors are moving in the right direction, we (the 5 teachers in kindergarten) were having troubles with the playground behaviors. We felt we had the same group of sweeties ignoring our safety rules. Someone was going to get hurt. So I created a recording sheet.
A page is made for each teacher. I placed them on a clipboard with a pencil attached. As students are reminded of the correct behavior, their names are written down. We only started this on Thursday, but by Friday I already had improvement in my class. At the end of the week each teacher gets the original recording page. We can track student’s progress (sounds a little RTI-ish). Also on Friday I rewarded my “Recess All-Stars” with a sticker and a treat.
I had a few kiddos seriously bummed that they did not get the sticker, so I hope next week will be even better.
