So I took these photos yesterday, but by the time I got home last night I was in a coma!
Here is what my writer’s workshop looked like on the day 4! Yippee! WE! ARE! FOCUSED!
After the mini-lessons, students return to their desks to work on their own writing. Students pick their own topics, which makes them invested in what they have to write about. For some students “writing” means drawing a picture. For other students, they are adding letters and words. That is the beautiful thing about writers workshop. It is automatically differentiated! Supporting students who tell their stories through illustrations makes success possible for every single students!
We are working on our stamina, so we writing for 7 minutes right now! It is hard to be patient… but I know we will build upon that. Experience tells me that through consistent effort, my students will be able to write with a sustained focus for 20-25 minutes by the end of September.
UPDATE: The writing units are now complete! Each unit has detailed and scripted lesson plans. This takes the guess-work out of “how” to teach writing. With these lessons, you are supported every step of the way.

That is it friends! I am going to fall asleep so quickly tonight!
