We loved learning about space. Here is a peek at our week long study.
A little sentence work gets our week off to a good start. Each day, the students complete a different sentence. You can find these space sentences HERE.
We start with this book! The Moon Seems to Change by Franklyn M. Branley. This is a fantastic book for learning about the phases of the moon.
Students can use these cards to sequence the moon phases.
You can find these cards as part of our Guiding Readers units HERE.
We also read multiple books we got from Scholastic. I love the Pebble Book Series!
Each day students would work on their informational text writing. Students added information they learned from the books we read together.
Each page of our book included crafts to go along with it.
How to Writing and a Snack!
We learned how to make Astronaut’s Dessert. Then we wrote about it!
Math and Measurement
We also created a chart that was to scale that showed how far apart the planets were. We used our shoes to measure the distance and write about it.
