Our VERY Presidential week and a FREE download

February 12 Deedee 2 min read
This week has been all about Abe Lincoln’s Hat!
This week we have been responding in our notebooks for the most part.

 And building our vocabulary.

This little peanut calls me, “Deedeewills”… not Mrs. Wills, not teacher.  I asked him why and he said he thought it sounded better…HA!  I do love him BIG TIME!  I guess the feeling is mutual because he wrote that I would go in his hat.
Naturally, candy would go in the hat.
Baby dogs… could by messy, but I agree, they are important!
 Sigh… his mom!  Love! It!
 Abe is EVERYWHERE!
We also talked about what makes a good president.  Well, yes, you do need to know all your words and numbers.

 It’s all about the hat!
We have been asked how we display the phonics cards.  Here a few pictures of my wall.

I have attached to cards using Velcro dots so I can pull them down when they are needed.
You can download the long vowel headers in my Facebook Fan File.  I put it in there so it can be easily found.  Remember… make sure you are on a computer (not a tablet or mobile) to see the file.
Read more about these reading units (read the feedbacks… they make me smile).
These lessons are designed around best practices.  Authentic learning does not have to be difficult, but it does need to be centered around REAL texts that are engaging.  We have designed these units for easy implementation.  Watch your students’ comprehension soar!

I love that your little guy calls you "Deedeewills". I laughed out loud when I read that. I can picture a child in my class who might do/reason something like that. I'm guessing your little guy is just as cute as mine!

I also love your system for displaying your phonics cards. Our curriculum comes with pictures and alliterative phrases, but none as cute as these. I try to be consistent with my building to help my strugglers with common language, so no cute ones here at this point. Have a great weekend!

I love your units for January and February. Are you working on a unit for March?

I want to thank you for your wonderful new sets. They are the best literacy resources I've use. I recently wrote a post in which I mentioned your products. It would be great if you read it. http://kindergartendoodles.blogspot.com/2015/02/growing-readers.html

So cute! Did you have anyone say that they would not be a good president?

    • Deedee February 17 at 2:30 pm

Yes! One said he would not be a good president because he was going to be a farmer. Ha!

What is the green strip on the wall? Is it green Velcro? I am trying to figure out how to display my phonics cards for each unit. Do you keep the previous cards up?

    • Deedee July 12 at 12:50 am

No, the strip of green is just a green ribbon (because it matches my room decor…ha)
