September 20 Deedee 2 min read

Apple Week is always a lot of fun.  Here is a peek at my week that is filled with fun apple themed activities.

Apple Themed Literacy Centers

Here are some of my apple themed resources.  If you click on the images, it will take you to the source.

In this activity, students will identify the letter attributes.

This is fun alphabet matching puzzle.   Each letter is included, but you would probably want to limit the letters to 6 or 8 at a time.  Otherwise, students might get overwhelmed.

A little letter writing practice is always fun!

We never grow tired of BUMP!  Once they learn this game, we can play many varieties all year long.

Coin collector is fun.  We start the year with pennies (counting by 1’s).  Then we move onto nickels (counting by 5’s) and dimes (counting by 10’s) later in the year.

Technology Fun!

I found a few computer games that would be fun to play!  This one shows lots of different types of apples and the students match them.

This would be a great activity to strengthen their mouse or touch pad skills.

A Lighter Version of Applesauce for your classroom… YUM!

One thing we look forward to in September is making applesauce.  I pretty much love all the recipes I find at Skinny Taste.

Do you have any first week of school plans or August/September plans?

  • Tonya Cogan September 25 at 8:29 pm

I read your article about no more letter of the week but the 12 minutes of instruction each day. What are you reading? What is the research that I could read deeper and look into resources?
