Research and Games!
- They put the brain in a positive state.

Win! Win! Win!
I have always turned practice into a game in my classroom. My students had so much fun, they did not know that they were doing … essentially… flash cards!
The trick is to keep it fresh!
The brain loves novelty. It screams…
“WAKE UP! THIS IS NEW! YOU HAD BETTER PAY ATTENTION!”
{even if it is just new clip art… shh… don’t tell the brain}
Sight Word Games
Roll, Say, Keep is a classroom favorite!
Large foam dice can be found by clicking HERE.
I also discovered that the cards fit PERFECTLY in these gum containers! I LOVE the lemon ones!
I teach my students the structure of this game early in the year and we play it while they learn their alphabet. Then we add sight words.
Each one of these games has been updated and are EDITABLE. (If you have purchased a Roll, Say Keep game from me in the past, just go to “My Purchases” to get the update for free.
YES, they come with some sight words already, but everyone has their own word list, so you can add your own. Regardless of the grade, you will be teaching next year, this editable file will fit your needs! When my 4th-grade buddies came down to my room, they LOVED to play this game.
ABC to CVC Games
Once we learn this fun ABC game with a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom theme…
We can swap the cards out for a CVC version!

Oh I love this! Question…when they put the cards in the container…do they keep track of who gets the jump card? and keep score of the cards?
Hi Ali!
Sorry! I had gotten a barrage of spam comments and your question got lost. Ok… So to answer your question, no, my students do not keep score. If they get the jump card, all of their cards go in the cup, but the game continues. They LOVE this game and I love that there is never a winner or game over. Just keep playing… just keep playing.
