Where I Teach Wednesday-Linky!

August 22 Deedee 1 min read
So today is the first day of school!   Yippee!   I have been working hard for a few weeks and …well…this is where I work!

In my classroom library I have pillows.  I have made pillow covers out of towels in the past. I wanted new colors this year, so I called my mom!!!
This is a cheap way to cover old pillow forms.  Check out how you can make your own WASHABLE pillows!!!

Check out some of these other classrooms!

I LOVE your pocket chart for writing folders. I have been looking everywhere for one like that. Can you tell me where you got it? Also, on your writers workshop board, what kind of cloth do you have hanging and how do you stick the vocabulary cards on it?

  • cherib August 23 at 4:15 am

I LOVE your room!!!!! Thanks for taking the time to share with us all.

I noticed a FABULOUS treee in the corner of your pics. I am doing Zoo Phonics this year and I'm wondering HOW you made that coconut tree….Did you have a post about it on your blog once or was that someone else?? Any tips for me. It looks incredible!!

SO loving your color choice . . . the green and the purple makes everything pop. Your Writer's Workshop station also has my wheels turning! Thanks for the inspiration and organization tips. Here's to a great year!

Awwww! Don't ya just love being able to call on mom! My mom made all of my curtains in my classroom – she even sewed a tag on each one that says "made with love by MOMMY" {how cute}.

I love your work stations management chart. I might need some coaching on this from you…I just received word that I am loosing my full-time help in the classroom that I've had for 12 years {budget cuts, grrr}. So 4 days into school, my planning has to change. HELP!!!!

Let me know what I can do to help! You can ask here or email me. I have 20 kiddos without an aide… so my perspective will be from that environment. Oh, and we are full day.

Nice…when I grow up, my classroom will be as organized as yours! It looks fantastic! I am definitely going to go back and define my work areas for the tub activities like yours 🙂
We have been in school for almost two full weeks (tomorrow) and I am up to 26, with a full-time aide though. I seem to block how tough the beginning of school is every year…

  • Sherri August 24 at 5:20 am

Wow, it came together so nicely! I am hoping next year I won't be a last minute hire and can organize before I open the classroom. I've learned so much from you, thank you!

  • Debra Taylor August 25 at 8:16 pm

I love all your ideas and hope that someday I can implement them. Right now I am a sad, unemployed teacher who would love to be back in the classroom. When, I do get there I will have plenty of new ideas.

  • Susan Moran August 25 at 10:21 pm

"Step 1: call your mom" LOL! Yep, that's exactly what I would do!! Your room is looking great Deedee!!

Hi Mrs. Wills! I adore you classroom so much. I was wondering if you could please tell me what the plastic looking holders you hang on the back of the door for student work are and where you purchased them. 🙂 Thank you so so much!

    • Deedee June 14 at 3:00 am

I have had them for a long time, but I found some on Amazon that are similar. Type in these words in the search bar and it should come up:

Pendaflex Poly Index Folders, 10 Pack, Letter, Assorted 50981

Let me know if you can't find them 🙂

  • Jenny July 19 at 12:40 am

I love your "Reach for the Stars" bulletin board. Can you tell me where you got the astronauts?

    • Deedee July 22 at 6:00 am

Gosh, I have no idea! I had a clip art of them, but I don't know where the clip art came from. I think it was Just So Scrappy…

The letters for your WORDS board, where did you get them?

  • Abby Buettner August 17 at 3:13 am

I'm so jealous of your huge classroom! I live in a shoebox, but I make the best of it! I love your student work display idea. I'm hopefully finding room to add that to my classroom! Thanks!
