# The Winter Games in the Classroom

Winter Games Lesson Ideas are great for the Winter Olympics or anytime it turns cold. Here are a few suggestions for you!

These three books (affiliate links) are wonderful for discussing the Winter Olympics:

### Winter Olympics Literacy Centers

Here are a few literacy centers.  I made this unit 4 years ago, but I just recently updated it.

Beginning Blends:  Students sort the cards by their beginning sounds.  Then write the word.

This is an editable sight word activity where students will roll and write the word.

Luge Long Vowels ask students to listen to long vowel sound and write it.

Bob Sled Word Families is another fun word sort!

In this activity, students will be matching words that rhyme and recording it on the worksheet.

This is actually a write the room activity.  Students write the words and put them in order to make a sentence.

### Winter Olympic Math Centers

This is another write the room activity.  Students count and record the tally marks.

Students solve the equations and color the response page.

In this activity, students roll two dice and add the numbers together.

Slalom 10 Frames asks students to spin and record the number on their worksheet.

Half Pipe Number Bonds is an activity where students sort number bonds and record their answer.

I also have a Winter Teams Making 10 activity.

I love this cute clip art, so I added it to the skip counting center.

You can find all of these math and literacy centers by clicking HERE.

### Other Winter Olympics Ideas

These look like they would be simple to put together.  You can read more about them by clicking HERE.

Look how cute these are! (my kind of cooking).  You can read more on these by clicking HERE.

This tabletop curling game looks so fun!!!!  You can find this activity by clicking HERE.

What is your favorite Winter Games event?  I love the skating and the downhill racing!

That popcorn Olympic torch is so cute!! Love this theme, thank you for sharing these great ideas!

My teaching career allowed me to experience teaching to different age groups and in different classroom environments. My heart belongs to early childhood education and I love working with other teachers who share this same love as me. Read More
