Kindergarten dinosaur week activity ideas for the classroom are here!
Nothing made my students more excited that a dinosaur themed week! Here are some ideas you can use!
Dinosaur Read Aloud Books
We love Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs by MoWilliems. This book is hilarious!
For this book we focused on the following reading skills/strategies:
- Making Predictions
- Retelling with Details
- Making Connections
- Making Inferences
- Opinion
Here are our retelling cards.
This is one of your Reading Comprehension/Guiding Readers books. You can see the activities we created for this book by clicking HERE.
Dinosaurs Galore is a great book that is filled with dinosaur poems.
I love these illustrations!
I found Dinosaur Bones at our local library. I love how informational text is included!
Dinosaur Poems
Dino Stomp is one of our poems. It is part of the second set of poems for March. You can see it HERE.
The videos are a great way to turn this poem into a listening center activity. We just made a song book that the students can scan the QR code to listen and read along. The music video can be found by clicking HERE.
Each of the Poetry Shared Reading sets includes a reader so students can practice the poem on their own.
Dinosaur Math Centers
I just added a Dinosaur Math Work Station to the bundle. I like to bind the blackline masters together so they are organized for each unit. SIDENOTE: Organizing these is a summer project of mine. (The list is long).
Here are some of the included activities:
- Subitizing
- Comparing numbers and objects
- Composing and decomposing the teens
- Measurement
- Numeral writing
- Addition
- Skip counting
- Story problems
- Color by number (addition and subtraction versions)
You can find the dinosaur themed math stations by clicking HERE.
I have also added it to the bundle. You can redownload that file or save over 40% on the bundle by clicking HERE.
Dinosaur CVC Games
Here is an oldie but a goodie! You can find this game by clicking HERE.
Dinosaur Sentence Work
These dinosaur themed sentences are great for practicing handwriting and concepts about print. You can find them by clicking HERE.
Deanna Jump has an adorable Dinosaur unit. She also has a cute dinosaur free file you can nab! You can hop over to her post by clicking HERE.
Have a GREAT Dinosaur week!
