HY YOU SHOULD USE PICTURES WITH PHONEMIC AWARENESS LESSONS AND ACTIVITIES:

Research supports the use of multisensory instruction in phonemic awareness lessons.  This is especially beneficial with students who have a language processing difference or students who are learning a new language.  When students can incorporate the picture with the sound sorting activity, they are better able to contextualize their learning.  This leads to higher skills retention.
