Product Description

First grade centers to keep your students engaged and learning during center time while you’re instructing your small groups in math and ELA. These literacy centers and math centers are perfect for your autumn lesson plans!

This bundle of fun back to school, and apple center rotations provide first grade students with an opportunity to practice math skills and literacy skills through independent work.

There are 2 versions of each center activity. The center cards can be printed with color ink or there is a black ink-only option, as well. There are a variety of activities to meet the needs of your students throughout the school year.

Blending with Books- Students say the name of each picture and write or color the missing beginning blend.

Ringing in the New School Year – Students practice ending sounds.

An Apple for the Teacher – Students practice ending digraphs.

Sticky Vowels – Students identify the missing vowel sound. Both short and long vowels are practiced in this literacy center.

The Bus is Here- Students practice identifying the missing digraph in each word.

Sentences for August/September – There are 4 weeks worth of sentence work! Students read the sentence and identify the correct picture. Then, they practice writing the sentence on their response sheet.

Color Me Happy Rhymes – Students match the two words that rhyme.

August/September Syllables – Students determine the number of syllables in each picture.

Making A Mark- Students count and add the base ten blocks

10 More or 10 Less – Students add 10 more or 10 less to the two digit number.

Sharp as a Tack – Students count the tacks and add more to make 20.

Whoo Knows the Sign? – Students use the greater than, less than or equal sign to compare the two numbers.

Monster Math – A fun monster center to practice addition within 20.

Shape Subtraction – A fun shape center to practice subtraction within 20.

Telling Time – Students practice telling and writing time in hours and half-hours on analog and digital clocks.

Number Bonds – Students add or subtract to complete the number bonds.

These predictable first grade centers are ideal for any classroom because the activities do not have to be retaught month-after-month. The students can apply their new knowledge to the same activities, with different themes each month.

Each first grade center has a recording sheet that can be used for tracking student progress during these independent activities.

These are purposely predictable 1st grade math and literacy center activities and they are EASY PREP! Plus, each activity is standards aligned.

Included in each month of first grade learning centers:

  • 8 first grade literacy centers (colored & black and white versions)
  • 8 first grade math centers (colored & black and white versions)
  • Recording sheet for each activity
  • Each center has 9-12 task cards for extra practice
  • “I Can” cards to help build student independence

What teachers are saying…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “This has been one of the BEST purchases for me on TPT! I love the activities, the I Can statements, the standards each activity addresses and the recording sheets to show the students are working on mastery and what extra help they need!  I highly recommend purchasing this product because it will make your Stations more productive and aligned with the standards.” – Daniela S.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “As a first year teacher, I appreciated how quick and easy to prep it is. I also liked being able to find quickly the lessons I needed to reinforce my teaching points.” – Julie D.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Once you prep the pieces they are so easy to grab for a quick literacy or math center. I love that a lot of the activities stay the same but change to match themes. Once you have modeled an activity the students will know what to do because the process is the same. This is such a great resource and is totally worth the money.” – Katie C.
