These daily classroom riddles for kindergarten and first grade will get your students excited each day as they guess the answer to fun, monthly-themed riddles.
Back in the day, I would incorporate fun riddles into our daily routine. My students loved it! Every morning when my students walked in, I would have a riddle written out on chart paper. As they put their things away, I would read the riddle. Independently, students would grab a scrap piece of paper from a bin of recycled papers. They would draw (and eventually write) their guess to the riddle. Then, they would place their folded up guess in a baggie attached to my chart caddy. After our morning announcements and pledge, I would read the riddle again and tally the guesses. We would dig into the text and make sure our guesses made sense. As time went on, my students got pretty good at paying attention to the clues and making accurate guesses.
As I said, I just wrote the riddle on chart paper every morning. That takes time and sometimes, we don’t have that kind of time! Like, EVER! So, I created a product with easy to print riddles for you to incorporate into your classroom. You can even display the riddles using a projector, without even printing them!
Riddle of the Day

You could also have students write some guesses on your chart paper.
They can help you tally the guesses, too! She is putting smiley faces next to the guesses that match the clues in the riddle. As the year goes on there will be fewer and more accurate guesses.
Did I mention these riddles are available for each month? You can complete the riddles in any order. You might choose this one if you are talking about bats that day!
