
Kindergarten Writing Sample: Start with modeling!


We shared the pen on this page. You can see a little correction tape between the “fir” and “was.” I was dropping the hammer on spaces between words in this writing mini-lesson.

Page 3: I went across the monkey bars.
Page 4: I went down the pole [As this child was reading his writing back to me, he noticed he had forgotten to include the word “down.” I showed him how to add a caret vs erasing. This was not the focus of our writing conference, so I briefly mentioned it to him. He quickly latched on to this writing trick!

Are you going to have a super sentences for December? I certainly hope so, the ones fall and Thanksgiving have been very helpful for my Kinders.
