December Kindergarten Centers that keep kids learning! That’s the goal of stations… right? We want students to over-learn key skills and have fun in the process!
KISS: Keep it Simple Sunshine
I know how it can be overwhelming! Creating fresh activities for you class to complete that are meaningful, yet fun! Do you feel like every weekend is spent preparing resources for your centers. Then you spend your entire week explaining HOW to do the center to your students? At one time, I was in your shoes… for REAL! It does not have to be that way… really!
I decided to create a few sets that were predictable. BUT I wanted LOTS of practice time. I did not want students to be able to actually FINISH the center… You might say… WHAT? If I have a center that some students can finish in 5 minutes, what will they do for the remaining 15? You know what they say about idle hands. So these activities were designed to provide many opportunities to practice at one time. Each activity usually has 12 tasks to complete.
Both math and literacy skills are spirally reviewed each month.
In this way, students have the opportunity to revisit skills throughout the year.
Having a beautiful ring is paramount! Ha!
Over time, we increase the difficulty of the task, but the process is essentially the same each month. Guess who no longer has to teach HOW to the station? HINT: YOU!
Each month comes with 8 literacy activities and 8 math activities. They are super easy to prep. You don’t have to cut around complicated shapes… just print, laminate, and cut with a paper cutter.
Here are all of the stations in this series:
