Welcome Students Postcards do you send them out? On Thursday evening I got an email that said my class list would be waiting in my mailbox at school. Friday morning, I rushed to my building to see the names of my little cherubs for next year. Holding the class list in my hand was exciting… here were the names of my friends for next year.
Do you all feel this excited too?
I wanted to make postcards to send out to them… so I came up with these.
I wrote a quick note to them all … they are ready for the mail carrier tomorrow… EEEK!
If you would like to make your own, here are the images.
To make these, you will want to copy the image above. You can then add a text box (in Power Point) to add your name. I had my postcards made at Staples, but you can easily print them at home. I did not add any printing to the back side of it.
Thank you to Mel at Graphics at the Pond for her adorable clip art!
UPDATE: Since this original post, I have made other postcards and resources for the beginning of the year. You can check these out by clicking HERE.

What font is this?
Thank you so much! These are adorable!
I don't want to take advantage of your generosity but is there any chance you could make one for pre-K? As always, thanks for sharing all of your wonderful ideas.

Lyn,
I just added the Pre-K a few minutes ago! 🙂
Thanks, Deedee!
We get our class list on the Friday before school starts (a Monday start). Last year was the first year I'd experienced something so….interesting…and I'm thankful to have a heads-up! We also receive at least one new student per day for a couple of weeks. Again, now I know how to prepare for this unique circumstance!
Forgot to mention that I could be informed on our first day back-Aug. 4-that I've been moved to a different grade or school. So, thanks for creating a range of welcome cards! I saved them all 🙂
Sigh… Girl! That makes the job so hard!!!
Thank you so much for sharing these!! I always want to send them out before school starts and I hope this is the year I actually do it since these are so stinkin cute!!
So cute! As you are getting your class list, I am just wrapping up the last week of school. I will save these for mid-August when we will get our class list. Thank you.
These are precious Deedee!!!!
I am so jealous! We do not get our class list until the afternoon before our Back to School night the week before school starts. I love your postcards!

Adorable, bright, and cheery! I certainly appreciate this! We get our class list a few days before school starts, but even then, it's rarely accurate. I will most likely wait to send these home until sometime during the first full week of school when the dust has settled and bodies are in place. 🙂 Thanks again! Great design!
Adorable! (I talked myself out of buying the letters when they came out…now I think I need them!)
Thank you so much for sharing…I grabbed the second grade one!
Does there happen to be one for PreK available ? These are soo adorable !
Hi Lisa,
I just added the Pre-K version!!!
Love these, Deedee! Thanks so much for sharing! I've already sent letters out to my incoming students, but I think I'll save these and use them for our Open House. 🙂

Thank you this is SOOOO cute. Is there any chance you could do one that says Grade One instead of first grade for us Canadians? Thank you!

Thank you DeeDee! You are always so thoughtful and ahead of the game. My list changes between now and the time school comes around. But I will definitely use them in August. See you in a week!
What is the font name that you used to type your name with? Thanks love these!!
Joni… I am not sure. I cleared it out to make the blank one for you guys…oops! I am 99% sure it was a Hello Literacy Font. There are so many cute ones of hers to pick from.
Great idea. I'm sure this will give the kids a feeling of belonging and excitement for start of school.

Thanks I always like to send something to my kiddos before school starts and these are really cute! Thanks for sharing them. Have a great school year!
Hey! These are FAB!
I’m a teacher in the UK and was wondering what font you used for the ‘to Kindegarten’ part of these cards? I would like to add ‘to Primary 5’ but I’m struggling to find a nice font!
Thanks 🙂
Hi there. It was an Amy Grosbeck font. If you email me and tell me what you want it to say, I can whip it up really quick for you!
