Thank you for another fantastic year! I have been seeing so many “Best of” segments in magazines and on T.V. that I decided to host my own “Best of” where I will highlight some of the best math and literacy activities EVER for kindergarten (or at least over the last year).
Best Math and Literacy Activities EVER
I may not be Oprah, but I sure do have a few favorites!
Math Work Stations
These highly engaging activities keep the learning going all year long. You can find one for just about every theme under the sun. The best part? You just have to teach the activity once and students keep practicing the skills all year long. The changing themes keep them engaging! Click HERE to see them. The cubes can be found HERE.
The Spinner can be found HERE.
Writer’s Workshop
Students learn to write by writing. These units are scripted if you are new to writer’s workshop, but they are flexible enough so you can incorporate them into your own writing routines. You can catch up on other blog posts about writers’ workshop by clicking:

Guiding Kinders Math
Hands on and rigorous math instruction… YES! Math curriculum that was created BY kindergarten teachers FOR kindergarten students! Imagine that! You can see these units HERE.
Black and White Units
Because sometimes you don’t have access to color ink, but you still want meaningful math and literacy station activities. You can see these units HERE.
Writing Work Station
This is a consistent favorite. I am so glad you all enjoy them! Each month new words are added and students seem to love them! You can see these units HERE.
Sight Word Fluency
I am so excited that I finished the updates on these units! Just add a timer!
These rings are great for organizing small cards and can be found Here.
I have added an “I Can” card to each unit. The word cards are also programmable so you can add your own words. I added a few extra files to the bundle, so if you have previously purchased it, you will want to redownload it! You can see these units HERE.
Poetry Units
Poems set to music! Each week we focus on one poem. Every day, during our shared reading time, we do a different activity with the poem. My students love it!

We also have the poems in video format. This makes a great center activity.
You can find the Poetry Units by clicking: Poetry the Bundle of Poems
You can find the music and video files by clicking: Poetry Music And Video Bundle
Listening Stations
These listening stations response pages have been made specifically for the texts. Each text has a variety of response options and they are differentiated so you can target your instruction!
You can see these units HERE.
Thank you for a great YEAR.
I hope you enjoyed my year in review and perhaps you found a few ideas for the best math and literacy activities EVER!

Nice!
This was such a great post to read, Deedee. All those activities are so much fun! Took my mind off my Pro Custom Writing work for at least a little while and pleasantly reminded me of my kindergarten days. Good times.
