In my class, we loved listening to and various versions of familiar stories. My lesson plans for Three Billy Goats was one of the class favorites!
Retelling Aprons
So I was BEYOND excited when this Show and Tell Apron arrived in my classroom. You can shop all of Sandy’s adorable aprons by clicking: SHOW AND TELL APRONS
My class FREAKED out! They were so excited to have a kid-sized version of my apron. I also got Fairy Tale cards that will come in handy during the week while we talk about the Three Billy Goats stories.
Even my Boy-Boys (you know… dirt, trucks, mini-machos) love the aprons and waved their arms as volunteers.
These aprons all come from the very sweet and talent Sandy Welch over at Kinder-Gardening.
Three Billy Goats Read Aloud
My class loved The Three Billy Goats Fluff by Rachael Mortimer last year! This is such a precious variation of the Three Billy Goats Fluff tale. We were thrilled with the happy ending!
Favorite part? The students wrote about their favorite part of the Three Billy Goats Fluff.
Here are some additional photos from last year. Students sequenced the key events in Three Billy Goats Fluff.
Three Billy GoatsSentence Study
We also did this fun craft for our sentence study. It is included in the Engaging Readers Reading Comprehension Units.
Three Billy Goats Fluff Video
You can watch a video of the book as well! I do not suggest you substitute a video for a book. Holding the book and zooming in on the pages is an important part of reading. But sometimes it is nice to hear the story in another voice and the video will just offer a fun supplemental activity.
This version of the Three Billy Goats Gruff by Paul Galdone is also a fantastic book to use for comparisons.
We also built classroom bridges, but sadly… I did not get pictures of them.
You can click on this image to download the lesson plans with hyperlinks to resources.
Have a fantastic week.
