In addition to the blog posts, I’ve listed a few favorite Halloween read-aloud books that are just perfect for this time of year!
Creepy Carrots
Creepy Carrots, an Amazon Teacher’s Pick, is a weird, wild, and engaging story about a little rabbit and his carrot “friends.” The story is adorable and so are the illustrations. It’s a creative take on the heretofore unknown struggle between carrots and rabbits. Kids love learning the lesson that things aren’t always what they seem.

The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything
A timeless Halloween classic, students love to follow along with the onomatopoeia words as they are repeated. The illustrations have a rustic and realistic feel. This book can be categorized as “spooky fun,” which is exactly what kids love!
How to Catch a Witch
How to Catch a Witch is another great addition to the ‘How to Catch’ series. The illustrations are simple yet sweet. At 40 pages in length, this book is a great transition into longer, more intermediate, level books. Kids love seeing the clever antics of the children in the book as they try to conquer chaos in a hilarious way.
Room on the Broom
Another great “spooky fun” tale of thinking fast, friendship, and adventure. The illustrations have a lot of detail to keep young children engaged. Kids love this as a read-aloud with lots of humor and fun with a very nice witch!
