I love your lesson plans! Do you use excel? My principal wants us to start using the computer to do our lesson plans and I would love to learn how? Any tips? I like how yours have the green on the top and blue. Sorry for asking so many questions! I think you are awesome!
I actually make a table in Power Point. I love using that program. It is easier to navigate for me.

Thanks for the freebie! I saw on your lesson plans that you have a rest/read/write/assess area. I was wondering what that looks like in your classroom. We still have nap time at my school because I teach in San Diego, and my school is 5 minutes to the Mexican border, so many kids get up at 4am to cross the border. A lot of them fall asleep quickly, but I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the ones that stay awake because I have a lot more this year than I usually do. Thank you!!!
Hi Cori! I grew up in San Diego (Chula Vista and El Cajon).
Ok.. Students bring their book bags to their towels. They can read (we have not started write yet) or rest. I put music on my Whiteboard and let the Media Player make the swirly designs… it is hypnotic!

I have the In My Name/Not in my Name cards ready to go. How many letters to you put out in the station? Does each child sort the letters for his/her name, while the other one watches? I could use some help. Also, thanks for all that you share!!!
I put all the cards out. The students work together to build names. Sometimes they do their own or sometimes they do a friends. My poor Eli said his name was boring…LOL!

We started doing math stations last year but struggle with how you introduce a weeks worth of stations at a time as it can be a lot of instructions all at once any suggestions on how you introduce them weekly.
It can take some time the first week. I think the key is to keep the tasks simple at first. My first week and a half, I had a few stations that were just exploring manipulatives. That gave me a chance to go around and support some of the stations that needed help.
If you look at my stations, you will see that most of mine fall into a familiar structure. I have "roll and write" games, "roll and trace" games, and "spin and trace" games. Already my kiddos are feeling comfortable with this so it cuts down on my need to re-teach the task.
If I have a station that is not like that (pattern book, or sequence strip) I provide an example to remind them.
I will try to explain this better in a post… I hope I am making sense.
