While We Can’t Hug Read Aloud

This story is absolutely adorable! With our current times, this book is a definite read aloud in our classrooms or through distance learning. Two friends, Tortoise and Hedgehog, have to stay apart but that doesn’t keep them from doing things that friends do. They sing songs, write letters, and make each other laugh in this sweet story. Take a look at the video:

As you’ll see throughout this post, all of the activities are preloaded to Seesaw. This means with just one click of a link, you can upload each activity to your Seesaw library. From there, you can easily assign daily activities for your students. Of course, if you don’t use Seesaw that is not a problem. We’ve provided a PowerPoint with moveable pieces that you can easily add to Google Slides and assign through Google Classroom or any other platform you may be using!

You can easily pick and choose which activities to assign to students and even assign different activities to your various groups of sweeties, depending on their needs.

The activities in this unit were created with the idea of where students are at the beginning of the school year. Some of the kindergarten skills include basic counting, tracing practice, beginning sounds, and rhyming. For first grade, students practice number bonds, addition, syllables, compound words, and more!
