Kindergarten Writing in September. We have made progress in writers workshop. Take a peek at student writing samples!

Kindergarten Writing in September!  We have made progress in writers workshop.  Each day students have been working hard in their writing and the tree is beginning to bear fruit!

Writers Workshop Publishing

At the end of each unit (20 days of instruction), the students select one piece to revise, edit, and publish.  Those pieces that they decide to not publish, go home with a note to their parents.

The publish pieces are displayed in the classroom.  You can see that we had a variety of writing approximations.  Some students made their meaning clear with their illustrations.

I am playing.

Some students attempted to stretch out the sounds that they heard.

I am going camping.

One lesson that we learned during the first 20 days of writers workshop in September was we wanted to fill the writing with color, just like the illustrators do in the mentor texts we studied.

Batman and Robin. I won.

I am running with my friends. I won the race.

After we complete our publishing, our writing is displayed.  Then, 20 days later, we will repeat this process.  These writing pieces that are displayed will be placed in the students’ writing portfolio.
